Humans are relational beings.

Relationships are foundational within how we  experience life. It is through relationships where we grow, reflect, and feel supported in the complex world we live in. Oftentimes relationships can turn from making us happy to making us miserable. Expectations and disappointments can ruin a once happy relationship and leave us wanting what we once had. Couples therapy can address what needs to be repaired and can help you and your partner incorporate new tools and resources to sustain happiness, curiosity, and connection.

While relationships can be the most rewarding aspect of life, they can also the most challenging. There are times where it really does feel like we are from different planets and understanding your partner can feel frustrating and exhausting. Cultivating and maintaining a happy and healthy relationship attending to trust and commitment takes work. Keeping your relationship strong and steady often times needs attunement and rewiring within communication, appreciation, conflict resolution and intimacy, both emotionally and physically.

How it works:

In times of challenge and conflict, it can be helpful to have an experienced couples counselor to navigate common relationship issues that naturally arise. Throughout the use of evidenced based interventions, often pulling from the Gottman modality, working with me in couples therapy will feel collaborative yet structured. We will start the process together assessing strengths and areas of improvement and then spending time in individual sessions where I can focus on your inner psychological being and how this integrates into the relationship you hold. While couples therapy isn’t linear, we will start where you are in working towards your goals. Reflecting on and attuning to behavior and emotional attachments will be heavily worked with while attending to meaning, rituals, and your shared goals and dreams for the future.

If you and your partner are struggling to understand each other, communicate effectively, or keep repeating the same old patterns creating conflict and distress; then having my support in finding solutions may be useful to work towards resolution and a more meaningful connection.
